History of Grama Panchayat
The historically significant Vazhappally Grama Panchayat is located in the Changanassery Taluk of Kottayam district. This region plays a crucial role in the cultural, social, and political history of Kerala. The oldest records related to the evolution of the Malayalam language were discovered here. The area received the name "Vazhappally" because it was filled with lush banana plantations (Vazha) and places of worship (Pally).
